Meet the Team



Wairuna Agri Services is all about farmers working for farmers. Company owners Angus and Gemma McKenzie are farmers and many of their staff also hail from either a farming or rural background. This gives them a great understanding of what farmers require when it comes to their agricultural spraying, fert application and direct drilling work. In fact Angus says they often trial newer techniques and technology on their own farm first to ensure what they are offering their clients is only the best and will deliver real results.

Wairuna Agri Services was started in 2018 and has since grown, mainly by word of mouth. The business employs four full time staff including a manager. All are Growsafe trained and hold certified handler qualifications.



angus mckenzie



Angus has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree and a masters in farm management from Lincoln University. He spent a number of years doing agrimony research work for the Foundation for Arable Research before returning to the family farm in 2015.



gemma mckenzie



Gemma grew up on a farm just out of Kaikoura and met Angus at Lincoln University where she completed a property valuation degree. She is responsible for the administration and accounts side of the business and in her spare time is a keen equestrian.
